Hi Scotty,
I found a new 2024 Nissan Titan, but I have a concern. The truck was produced in 08/2023 and has been sitting at the dealership for 15 months with less than 10 miles on it.
I’m wondering if this long storage time might have caused damage to the tires, seals, or fluids.
Seal damage is my biggest concern since it has not been lubricated during this time.
Please let me know your thoughts?
Regards, Ahmad
I would be concerned with:
1. Change the oil and oil filter
2. Check the integrity of the tires as they may have developed flat spots
3. The fuel system may need to be drained and flushed as old gasoline especially in the fuel lines can become gummed up potentially clogging the fuel lines and fuel injectors.
4. Not sure about the seals as I would think that they mostly suffer damage/deterioration as a result of exposure to heat and pressure as the engine operates, vibration, and from contaminates in the oil as a result of combustion. Otherwise it seems that they have existed in a protected environment in this new engine.
5. Test the brake fluid for moisture content with a brake fluid tester or test strips.
These are some observations from a novice DIYer, not an an experienced mechanic. 😉
Check for rust on the car and road test it. Ask the dealer about the warranty.
If the car was stored indoors, it should be fine, otherwise inspect it first.
