2005 Scion xA, 140K miles, automatic transmission.
My car has a rough idle, but after disconnecting the battery long enough for a computer reset, I start up the car and the idle is smooth for a few minutes; I think then the computer re-learns "something" during that time and the cars idles rough again.
I replaced the spark plugs, thinking that they're old and that their gaps were excessive [they were within spec, but I changed them anyway; they burned clean], but that didn't help. Neither did cleaning the MAF sensor and throttle body.
What should I check next? TIA for your help!
Well guessing with that small amount of information would be just that, guessing. I'd have to hook up my fancy sandal to see what data was off. So find a mechanic. You stand tall and look at the live data. Something's got to be wrong. And if no data is wrong then the computer would probably be failing
After disconnecting the battery, there still is some electricity in the circuit. Try to short-cut the positive and negative while the battery is disconnected! If the problem persists after this, you need to follow Scotty's advice.
