Rusty 2009 Honda Fit Sport for $2100?

Hey all, I'm looking at this 2009 Honda Fit Sport for my next car. https://rockford.craigslist.org/cto/d/rockford-2009-honda-fit/7625018333.html

Anyways, I live a good 6 hours away from the location listed and the guy won't give me the vin number. He says I'll get it when I come look at it. But it's not like I can go any evening, or stop there on my way home from work. There's also the rust issues. He won't send me better pictures of any of it. And if I ask if the rust under the car more than is shown he just avoids it.

My friends all think it's sketch and I shouldn't do it but for $2100 it's hard to find any fit at that price with less than 200k. Do keep in mind I drive 120 miles a day for work so I put A LOT of miles on my daily vehicle so I think it's not bad for that.

Thoughts??

Thanks, Dalton

Way too many red flags here. It could all too easily wind up like flushing $2100 down the toilet.

See the car in person and check how much rust in underbody of the car, if it's not rusted badly and if you can get cheap enough there get that.

What I'm puzzled about is the guy's refusal to give you the VIN number. Every car's VIN number is on the driver's side dashboard, readable from outside the car (cops like that). It isn't something anybody would need to keep private (or could, legally).

I would think the seller might not have a car at all, not have legal title for the car, or something sketchy like that.

Guess you know you should not buy that car of an owner, who hides many things for you; i agree with the 'red flags' mentioned before..

I'm guessing the car is a winter season away from going to a junkyard due to the rust.

I would keep looking.
