My dad's 1989 Camry got rear ended recently. It seems like the black bumper got shoved in, rear light pop out like a cartoon and the trunk doesn't close right unless shoved in right. The insurance says that they'll buy it from us for $3500 or they will give us 2k so that we can fix it. It only has 140k miles, what should we do?

I would sell it to insurance and move on. Body work isn't cheap and you'd be in it for repairs more than the car is worth.

I would take the $3,500 as well and move on.

Take the $3,500!

OMG that is so much money for a 32yo car. You will never ever sell it for that much.
