Just bought a 2014 scion frs with 68k km, automatic, after driving around for ~1hr, the brakes were hard to press, mechanic said the vacuum pump died and had to get it replaced.
After the replacement, drove it for another ~2hr and it failed again, went to another mechanic and he said the same thing. What could be causing this or was it just a bad installation?
Was it an OEM pump, or a cheap Chinese knockoff?
OEM
Even OEM parts can be of iffy quality these days. From pictures I've been able to find it appears to be a mechanical pump, not electrical. I'd say the pump was probably defective, or the problem is being misdiagnosed. (Presumably since the FR-S is really a Subaru that pump is actually a Subaru part.)
hopefully its the iffy part, thanks for your time ^^
