Serpentine belt size.

Hi everyone again!

So I'm a bit confused here:

As I've mentioned before, I own a couple of 1993 4.3 CPI S10 Blazers with A/C and live on the other continent.

Recently, I bought a new serpentine belt. According to OEM belt sizes, this one should be 6PK2425 "for vehicles with A/C". But the darn thing squeaks a bit and feels overly tight.

When I asked the local Chevy fan club, they claimed that the OEM belt is supposed to be 6PK2440. Though US sources claim it's definitely 6PK2425.

So my questions are:

Which is misleading in this situation?

Does the "6PK2425" mean the exact lenght of a belt (I've noticed, that some manufacturers post a tiny bit varying numbers in mm)?

And if it's supposed to be a +/- lenght, is excessive tightness OK?

Or did I find the wrong info and it's actually supposed to be 2440?

Or is it just that the belt I got is crap?

Well I would just try the longer belt and see what happens. You never know with build quality of anything these days but no longer one is 15 mm longer and that could make a difference

Yeah, I was thinking the same way. Thanks.
I'm not a fan of constantly spraying the belt with silicone or something, yet this noise is just annoying. )
Though, I still don't get why the numbers, if sizes don't match. Would be OK for a Chinese part, but a Japanese belt... sad...

FIND THE CORRECT ONE FOR YOUR CAR'S EXACT SPEC.

Looking on ContiTech's website, the compatible size depends on your spec

The options I found are 94.0" (Exc. AC) , 95.5" (W/AC) , 95.79" (W/AC) and plenty of other sizes!

It seems to depend on the exact spec of your car, I'd ask the dealer for the exact part number.

Unfortunately, I don't have direct access to GM dealer, since I live on the other continent.
That's why, I thought americans could give advice on choosing one.
So, which is my car's spec? Only it's VIN, or the whole sticker in the glove compartment?

measure the old one

The old one is pretty much stretched out and began slipping, the tensioner was at it's max position. That belt was a 2440, though.
