[Solved] Serpentine belt tensioner

Hey Scotty I have a 2007 Saturn Vue V6 with little over 300,000 miles on it. The serpentine belt came off while I was driving got it home and the belt tensioner broke. So I replaced the automatic belt tensioner and the serpentine belt but for some reason the belt is loose and I can't figure out why. Haven't been able to drive the car for over a week and I'm going crazy. And the cost of Uber everyday to get to work is killing me. I could really use your help on this one. When I pull up the belt diagram to make sure I got the belt on right the diagram that comes up for my car is different than what I have. The diagram for a 4cyl matches my configuration. But under the hood it says it's a V6 which just adds more confusion. Please help! Oh and love your videos I'm watching one now as I write this.

Thank you

Dylan

Are you sure you bought the right belt?

Hey jack thanks foe the reply and yeah I'm pretty sure it's the right belt. It matches up with the belt that was on before on size wise and the part # on the belt comes up as saying it fits my vehicle. I'm putting the belt on just as it shows in the diagram. Do I need to do anything to the belt tensioner before putting on or after installing it? I put everything back the same way I took it off.

Just make sure the grooves in the belt are lined up in the grooves on the pulleys, then put a wrench on the tensioner pulley, pull up on the pulley to relieve the tension so you can get the back of the belt against the tensioner pulley.

See that's the issue I'm having you don't have to put a wrench on the tensioner pulley the belt goes on without having to do that. That's why I'm at a loss. The belt matches up with the old one. Even the old one is loose when I put it on. It's weird. I'm gonna try again in the morning after taking a day away from it. Was getting beer frustrated. I don't know Maybe I'll see something I may have missed. But it's a pretty straight forward install.
