i have 07 escalade 100k miles with new spark plugs, short tube headers, jet performance throttle body, throttle body spacer, cold air intake with k&n cone filter and new performance ceramic spark plug wires..truck runs great my question is sometimes when i accelerate it will hold rpms for 3-5 seconds and then shift, not hard shift or jerky shift its smooth like normal. why is it holding and then shifting into next gear. tranny fluid looks good no metal or dirtiness to it. no codes i scanned everything with a bluedriver

Well those things are so complex the inner relationship between the engine management system and the transmission system is so totally linked normally on the vehicle like that I would say the transmission itself has internal problems with that electronic monster it could be any of a zillion things have a procadi tranny man road test it with a scan tool hooked up and see what he says

It's a standard 4L65E 4-speed transmission, basic design goes back decades. By itself, it's an electronically-controlled version of the manually controlled 4L65, which itself is a modified 4L60. Historically, reliability is somewhere between very good and great.

Make an appointment and take it to a GM dealer (not necessarily Cadillac) for service. A good transmission tech can have the equipment connected and tell you exactly what's happening in 10 minutes or less ! They have the special equipment, tools, and qualified people to get it done properly.

Driveway "mechanics" don't have that maker-specific equipment, and therefore, you'll usually get a lot of guesswork (try this, try that), which usually results in several trips and lot of unnecessary labor and extra cost. And guess what: Usually, the issue is never fixed.

ya not to much help ... took it to aamco guys drove it around with me and the scan tool ..nothing was out of the ordinary, said engine and tranny run perfect...did notice the holding rev said might be a shift solenoid......does that sound correct?

Certainly candidates. Even OEM solenoids are fairly low-cost, fit into valve body so dropping the pan and fluid change is required. There are 2 and certainly replace both. Also make sure they completely flush the valve body. P.S. We're a dealership, and my trans guy says "maybe" that can resolve, but he would do the same as the Aamco guys, hookup our Laptop PC-based scan tool scanner and drive it, before and after any service. But I think Aamco uses a different scanner, maybe the Launch OBD scanner ? But all Aamco's are individually-owned and operated, so they use whatever the boss buys ? And GM dealers use yet a different one but he couldn't remember the brand. But my man also tells me with the scanner, he can see when the solenoids kick in and how long they take, just like the guys at GM can. Trying to help, not sure I am ..

nah thats all good ill check with gm dealer just dont wanna pay 100 for a scan :p thanks for the help:)
