Hey scotty I got a 2017 lexus LX 570 with the 5.7 V8 with 50,000 KM. Its been a great vehicle but it can be sluggish, should I add:
A) a turbocharger
B) a Supercharger
C) Twin turbos
D) a Supercharger and twin turbos
E) Live with it
Adding a turbocharger and/or supercharger would be a fine idea if you don't mind blowing up your engine.
it's better to boost a stout V8 than those little 4-bangers. In fact this engine came with a supercharger as an option. But still ... his SUV is already putting out almost 400 hp! I wouldn't call that "sluggish". You don't need more than that on public roads.
True, it would certainly hold up better than a tiny 3 or 4 cylinder engine that's for sure. But being unfamiliar with how stout that engine might be I tend to err on the side of caution. The models that have factory supercharging may also have stronger internal parts to take the pressure. (Strangely, back in the day Studebaker V8s and 1st-gen Rambler V8s were popular for turbocharging because they were heavy, overbuilt engines.)
NO.
Have you followed all of the recommended engine maintenance?
Are you using premium fuel?
Even with 383 hp and 403 lb-ft of torque, it takes quite a bit to accelerate 6,000 pounds quickly. Lexus claims that it goes 0-60 mph in 7.3 seconds.
Are you out there challenging those Shelby Cobras again?😁
but it can be sluggish
Sluggish compared to what, Godzilla?!
That particular motor, if you leave it stock, will only go up in value as Toyota (and everyone else) moves away from traditional V8's.
Instead, assuming you don't go off road, get lighter wheels and tires. You will need to pay to get good lightweight wheels (cheap light wheels are asking for trouble).
