I looked at/test drove a 2005 Toyota Camry XLE with 232,000 miles. The lady said she bought the car in 2019 and put 87,000 miles on the car (all interstate driving). The oil was changed in July 2022 and looked clean. She stated that it burnt no oil. The transmission fluid also looked clean. The air blew ice cold and the heat was hot. I pushed down on the hood and the trunk several times and the front end and rear end weren't bouncy. It had good tire on it. It idled right under 1000 rpms and the engine made no extranious noise.
Now the bad things I saw or felt. It had been smoked in. There was play in the steering wheel. It had a slight vibration while in drive, but sitting still. The headliner was starting to come down in the rear corners and the power seats made a weird noise when moving forward. I took it to Autozone and had it scanned....the check engine light was on. They said it needs a catalytic converter (but I live in Kentucky) and an ABS pump module which is only available at Toyota.
The lady wants $3000 Firm.

Have it inspected by a professional mechanic thoroughly, before proceeding any further. The items of concern are the vibration in D and play in the steering wheel.
A new transmission alone might exceed the purchase price of the vehicle.
Re-evaluate this offer once again after the mechanic’s prepuchase inspection report.
Thank you for the response. I think you are exactly correct with your opinion which is why I have decided to walk away from the car. It's not the right one for me.
No worries and all the best with your car search!
