Should I buy a 2001 Mercury Villager

Hello Scotty, my name is also Scott and I'm from Minnesota. I've been following you for a number of years and you are totally awesome, your super funny and your knowledge and wisdom of so many vehicles is absolutely mind staggering. This is my first time asking a question although I have commented in a few of your videos on YouTube.

I'm searching to buy a little older, used mini van just to have as an extra vehicle for a while and add to my small fleet of used goodies, and I just located and spoke to a nice older woman who has a 2001 Mercury Villager with 122,000 meticulous miles on it for sale and asking $2,650. It's old, but sounds amazing, as its originally from Arizona and a very old man had it, and its only been in Minnesta for 3 years and the current owners are an old couple who have driven it very sparingly themselves as an extra vehicle but no longer use it much and want the money. The van is rust free and damage free, and apparently has nothing wrong with it at all. It was stored under a canopy in Arizona for most of its life so no paint damage or weathering.

I'm not sure which engine it has yet but I believe they had at least a 3.3liter and the Villager is apparently the same as a Nissan Quest from the YouTube video reviews I've watched. I don't know anything about these vans. I've had and loved the old 2005 Pontiac Montana the most of all the older vans that I had years ago, I had a handful of Ford Windstars where some were definitely better than others, as well as I had other mini vans but know nothing about the Mercury Villager.

Is this 2001 Mercury Villager that's clean as heck almost showrroom new, with no problems at all, a decent van for $2,650.00 with 122,000 miles?

I was considering offering less and seeing what they'd take but I'm interested to know how good of a van it was and what problems may arise at it ages a bit more, or what I should have done to it soon to keep it running good as far as preventative maintenance and all?

I have a cheaper Carlyle Scanner which I'll plug amd and test out before I drive the van and after I drive it to just verify things, that is if I go look at it.

I haven't checked the Blue Book Value yet but I'm doing that now.

I'm just a tiny but concerned due to its age but of well taken care of and in good shape then I may just buy it to do some extra traveling in it amd hauling small but larger loads than a car or SUV.

Thank you very much and have a terrific day!

Considering that it's a 24-year-old vehicle which would still be considered long-lived if it cratered tomorrow, how much longer are you expecting to get out of it? You need a good mechanic to check it out before purchase.
