Should I buy this LeSabre

Hey Scotty,

I see this 2004 Buick LeSabre online for $1,500. The seller says that the buyer has to either get it towed or bring a battery. They said it's either a battery issue or electrical. From the pictures the body looks decent (I have to physically look at it to confirm though). I contacted the person and asked what was the problem that gave evidence to possible electrical issues or maybe just the battery? They said they don't know the battery wasn't getting charged. Should I offer way less (like $400-$500), if accepted buy the car and fix those possible issues? I heard the 99-2005 Buick LeSabres, Regals and Park Avenue's are tanks and that you can kinda get that Toyota reliability out of them for way cheaper price points. So I want a LeSabre.

Rodent and rusty connector issues are horrible to manage.  Wiring harnesses, ground wires require the patience and diagnostician skills of a methodical engineer-brained person... It could be a great long term project.  Just know the transmissions are icky.  If it is the 3800 Series III engine, they are rock solid. I loved my dad's low mileage 2006 Buick, 26MPG combined freeway/city after a 1/2 bottle of Gasoline Extreme by Hot Shot.

When you say the transmissions are "icky" do you mean they are weak or no good? Let me know. Because I've heard so many great reviews about them. I've even seen on YouTube if you don't want to pay for those Toyota prices and get close to the same long lasting quality get a 99-05 Buick LeSabre and the other cars like Park Avenue, Regal, Oldsmobile 88 and the grand prix with that 3800 II motor. Everything is extremely cheap to repair and it won't leave you on the side of the road.

The transmissions in those cars are much weaker than the engines. They are not cheap to repair. They can leave you stranded on the side of the road. Since the car won't start you have no way of checking whether the transmission is working properly or not.

Are you feeling lucky?

I wouldn't pay more than a little less than scrap value for a car that won't start. That way if it turns out to be a basket case it can be "flipped" to a junkyard, maybe making a few dollars for one's trouble.

Sounds great. How much is it for New/Rebuilt Tranny or motor rebuild or replacement in those Buick LeSabres?

Thousands of dollars.

With that lack of braveness and that need for security, America still had to be discovered!

Let him buy his Buick-Tank, he will send us a video when he has it running again!  👍

Ask the shop that would be doing it for you

Why not get a jump pack and go there and try to start it? They are nice to have on hand anyway, I always have one in my car, and have used it to jump several people off when needed.
