Hey Scotty, I’ve been looking at getting a 2014 Ford Mustang. Mustangs have been my dream car since I was a kid but not sure if they’re money pits or not. It has 39k miles for less than $17,500 from a local dealership. Was wondering what you thought about used mustangs and if I should get it. Thanks! Keep up the good work I love your vids!

Mustangs of that era are ok as long as they've been properly maintained and not beat.  From a dealer?  No way.  Do not make emotional decisions about cars.  It never works out well when reality collides with your boyhood recollections. Have the condition of the car verified by an independent mechanic not associated with the dealer and go from there.

I owned a 2004 Mustang we purchased from a friend of the family, 3.8L V6 Convertible and one of the best vehicles I ever owned.  Thing was slow as a dog and only got 23-24mpg with that automatic but it never had mechanical issues outside of a bad tank of gas once.

Ma had a 2008 Mustang 4.0L V6 for a while, found out later it was a flood car we bought at a tent auction.....  We had that for about 5 years, and the computer went out due to corroded wires from the flood.  Other than that the car was fast and ran reliably for the several years we owned it.

V6 Mustangs are usually in much better shape than the GT V8 ones, but like Scotty always says in his video take it to a Mechanic for a pre purchase inspection.  Just my experience with 2 different generation Mustangs was very positive.  Try and find one that comes with a service history to prove it had regular oil changes and other maintenance, find somebody who loved the car for best chance of getting a good one.
