I am getting 2008 Lexus ES 350 automatic with 238,000 kms (I'm in Canada, that would be 148,000 miles for my US neighbours) for $6000 Canadian (that'd be $4760 US). Should I go for it? It's going to be my first car.

It can be a great car. Have your mechanic check it before purchase. Just one thing: that model has a sticky dash issue that unfortunately, even after Toyota changed the dash, it happended again. So make sure you do a little research on that as well.
