Should I Change Transmission Fluid on 1998 GMC Sierra with 130,000 miles?

Hello Scotty and community, I have a 1998 GMC Sierra with 130,000 miles that I purchased at around 120,000 miles a couple years ago. I don’t think the transmission fluid has ever been changed in the truck before I bought it. I checked the fluid and it is discolored and not pink. The truck runs perfectly fine but of course I want to maintenance it if it is the best thing to do. I know in some of Scotty’s videos he advises against replacing the transmission fluid if it hasn’t ever been changed and is up there in miles. For an older truck like mine, at 130,000 miles, is it too late to replace the transmission fluid? How should I go about it? Thanks

Even tho your vehicle is older it only has 130,000 miles so it should be safe to change. Spray break clean around the drain plug to clean area and use a clean container as well. If your transmission slips or has problems after changing fluid your going to want to reuse old fluid. You don't want any contaminants from getting into fluid. Make sure you use the proper fluid the wrong fluid can destory the transmission

If you decide to do the fluid, id at least keep the old fluid for awhile incase it starts to slip.
