2006 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.5 4WD $5,750 101,000 miles. This one was made in Korea not in Alabama where they got 999,999,999 trillion recalls and the engines blow up and catches fire. That’s why I got rid of my 2011 Hyundai Sonata that was from there. I also had experience with older Hyundai’s and they weren’t as bad as the 2011. I had an 02 Elantra that was good until it got wrecked. I had an 06 sonata V6 that didn’t fall apart until 160,000 miles. My mom also has a 2008 Santa Fe 2.7 AWD with 85,000 miles that she bought new and had just a few minor issues but nothing serious enough for her wanting to get rid of it. I know these older Korean Hyundai’s are not as well as a Toyota but better than some other makes. I would never get a newer one made in Alabama ever again. I’m not sure if I wanna buy this one I just wanted thoughts.
It's way overpriced for a 15-year-old Hyundai, a more realistic price would be half that much. You are correct that the older Hyundais from around 2005-2010 did not have the kind of severe quality problems that they have today. I know a number of people who have owned Hyundais from that time period and they aren't too bad for about 150K-200K miles. They do tend to have a lot of little things fall apart.
Short answer, NO. Long answer, HELL NO!
What is your obsession with Hyundai products?
InThrustWeTrust…..I don’t have an obsession with Hyundai. I don’t even drive a Hyundai anymore. They used to be cheaper to buy new and I got good deals . It came with 10 year 100,000 mile warranty but my last one was so awful and after all the recalls and finding out about the fires and engines blowing up, never again will I ever get a Hyundai. I didn’t just have Hyundai I had Chevys too. however I’m now obsessed with Toyota’s. I been trying to find a second non daily driving vehicle and hoping to come across another but not so desperate too just looking for the most part.
No problem. I’d still avoid any modern Hyundai/Kia product unless you planned on leasing one, brand new. Yes, you’re looking at a pre 2010 model, but realise that it’s a 16 yr old car which will invariably need lots of age related work. You’ll be much better off with a CR-V of similar vintage. What are your requirements from your second vehicle?
My requirements are not much but decent reliability, cheap and easy to maintain. I prefer something like a wagon, van, suv or pickup something that I can put a lot in when needed. I also prefer something with 4 or all wheel drive because my job requires me to drive in the snow but I already have an all wheel drive Rav4 so it wouldn’t matter if it wasn’t.
How about a Sienna? Realize the used car market is crazy right now, so finding something cheap may be quite a challenge.
I know I’m not really desperate of getting anything right now anyway I’m just looking around of what’s selling and asking questions about the vehicles so when time times I’ll have an idea what to get. Yes I like the Sienna and you can really pack bundles in that van and they also have AWD as an option that I like.
