I’m looking for some insight, I’m a female, I’m trying to educate myself more on vehicle maintenance so I’ll be more knowledgeable and independent. I drove a 2018 Toyota Corolla but my lease was up, I was considering to keep it but long story short I didn’t. I recently got a really good deal on certified 2019 Nissan Altima SL, nice car, all the bells and whistles, but I’m was dumb and didn’t realize Nissans change of quality until I started reading more up on it after I got the vehicle and whether having a VSC is worth it. With the vehicle market now I can sell this Nissan and turn a profit and put it towards a 2018 Mazda 3 Touring which is cheaper, is it worth it in terms of reliability and longevity ? I like a little luxury but reliability and longevity is more important to me.
If you can truly turn a profit and get the Mazda3 Touring for cheaper, then it’s a win-win. That’s a far better vehicle for longevity purposes esp. with that 2.5L naturally aspirated I4 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission (both of which are holding up well).
Thank you I’ll definitely consider that upon the profit I can get on the Nissan.
If you can make a profit, go ahead with the Mazda 3, after a professional mechanic checks it out thoroughly, before purchase.
All the best!
Yes hopefully I can 3k above what I paid and put it towards a Mazda. I’ll be getting it from a dealership hopefully certified preowned. Unfortunately I won’t be able to have a mechanic go with me. I don’t know how that process works when buying a vehicle and asking a mechanic to go to the dealership to check it especially if its 20+ miles out their way.
Get rid of that Nissan sooner than later to get the most money out of it.
That’s my plan, from what I see Nissan doesn’t hold its value very well and usually has minor to major issues within 5 years of ownership.
Absolutely sell the Nissan and go with the Mazda if you can. If you haven't already, do shop Carvana and givemethevin.com for offers. Don't just take and trade it in. I know Carvana is currently giving a pretty penny for a lot of stuff, especially if in great shape.
Yes thank you, I am already doing research on the buying value with KBB car max and etc. I know dealerships with trade ins aren’t worth it.
Just know that KBB, even in the current market, is trash. Be sure to test them all. I mention the two above because they seem to be afterthoughts for many (Carvana less so), but both tend to offer significantly higher prices. Good luck!
Thanks! I never heard of givemethevin.com, I’ll definitely look into it.
