Hey Scotty I have a 2008 yundia Elantra GLS over 200,000 miles. I blew a spark plug the car still starts and everything. Would you advise I use a heliocoil for the fix cuz any shop I called here in conneticut didn’t even look at it and just said junk it and unfortunately I don’t have that option as it’s my only car. Also for first time blown spark plug repair what do you advise practicing on or should I just go right in. I watched your video on heliocoils/save a thread already. I was just wondering what you would do because I’m not sure how to tell if the cam is down or there is any other damage to the engine. Thank you for your time

You could use a borescope to inspect for metal debris in that cylinder. If there is any the cylinder head would need to be removed to thoroughly clean it up.

If you need to keep the car you could use a thread repair kit. Timeserts are generally regarded as superior to Helicoils.

You probably mean "piston"

Usually an engine has marks (typically on the crankshaft pulley) to indicate the position of the crank/cam cycle.

If not, then use a bamboo skewer through the spark plug hole as a depth gauge as you manually rotate the crankshaft.
