Should I take this trade?

Hello everyone, I have a 1953 Studebaker Champion Starlight coupe, and I’m considering a trade for a 1972 Fiat 850 Sport Spider. My studebaker is a BIG project. It runs and it seems most of the drivetrain is in good shape but the paint, brake system, radiator, interior etc are shot. In short, it’s very solid but needs a lot of work to be roadworthy. I have most of the parts required to get it driveable, but currently not enough time to complete the project. The Fiat on the other hand, while objectively not as valuable as what the Studebaker would be when completed, is almost perfect. No drivetrain issues, runs and drives great, paint is great, interior is great, overall the car is in excellent condition with just a few very minor issues (fuel gauge doesn’t work, water pump is making a noise but the part is cheap and easy to replace). Should I take the trade? I’m seriously considering it but I’m torn. I might just be sentimental towards the Studebaker since I was the one who got it running again for the first time in 30 years and drug it out of its grave so to speak lol. Thank you for any advice you can give me!

My studebaker is a BIG project.

I'm watching a 1948 Studebaker Champion revival right now. It just went online.

Holy mackerel. It just started right up after 47 years with minimal work like it was nothing.

What about having both?

I wish lol, but I have neither the space or the budget so me and the seller of the fiat agreed to an equal trade if we go through with it.

You're talking about a '72 Fiat. The classic, FIX It Again, Tony moniker comes to mind right away. Those car crap cars (Fiat pulled out of the US sometime in the 70s or early 80s). Tge Studebaker is MUCH more valuable than any Fiat ever will be.

I'd stick with the Studebaker all day long if it's basically solid. There's plenty of support and parts available to finish it. Those Fiat 850 Spyders are tiny, fragile, underpowered things that will rust into the ground on a damp day.

Also those 1953 coupes designed by Raymond Lowey's studio are just gorgeous, way ahead of their time.

Keep Studebaker.
