Slow gas response/ low rpm

I bought an automatic 2010 Toyota Matrix base model a few months ago from a private party.

I noticed that it delays acceleration when pressing gas. So when stopping, I press gas, no movement initially then it catches up (2 second delay).

It also doesn't seem to have enough power in the highway. I noticed that rpm doesn't go above 3300 no matter how I press the gas.

The images in the following link show the air filter housing broken from the side. Also the hose for the air going into the air filter housing box doesn't have a tight fit ( it wiggles when I move it). Does it need to be a tight fit?

I already bought an aftermarket air filter housing box, but haven't replaced it. Should I be concerned with replacing the hose going into the air filter? Or any sensor?

Thank you!

I'm not sure if this related, but my wife was not able to start the car on two incidents. It always started for me. Not battery issue.

How old is the fuel filter?

Good call on the fuel filter. I haven't replaced oil since I bought it since the sticker is recent, but yeah there is a risk the previous owner never replaced the fuel filter. I'll change oil and filter and see if anything changes.
Thank you!
