[Solved] Can I remove the AI from new cars

Topic starter

I was considering buying a new 2023 Mazda 3 Sport or Toyota Corolla Hybrid LE but I don't want the remote control features or the smart features that are preinstalled in most vehicles. I don't want anyone being able to take control of my vehicle remotely nor the AI smart features being able to take action on its own; though I do want the warning features. Can you tell me if these features can be eliminated from the vehicle build as a pre order? Please also let me know what the good and bad issues are for both vehicles. Thanks very much!

Hope everyone is having a joyful Christmas/Holiday season!

Your post reinforces my choice to not buy any motor vehicle made after 2005.

Funny!

I found a solution that will repel everyone trying to take control of your car. (and rational people too, but we don't care about them)

@mmj Excellent!

though I do want the warning features.

Not even the OEMs control these functions.

Please contact your local dealer/s and enquire if a special ECU can be programmed that’s suited to your requirements.

Or just buy a vehicle that was designed without an ECU.

Thanks very much for your reply. I think my local Mazda dealer might be able to do that as a pre-order. They said it's possible to remove the remote and assist features, so I'll ask if they can remove the ECU for these features. Thanks again!

Please keep us updated how it goes with the ECU-less car

smeone from outside is able to take control of my car without my consent.

does this happen to you a lot?

By the way, what will they do once they control your car?

Okay so I'm going to respond coming from a software engineering background. First of all every single device connected to the Internet or connected to some sort of server can be hacked, but the point is are all devices worth the time to hack and take control of? If one were to think like this they would have to live in a village with no technology around them.

Remote features such as what? Remote start for example? How many people are going to want to start your car remotely? And even if they do they need the fob and to get in the car and press the push start button for the car to turn fully on. And most fobs have chips inside them and also send random codes so it just makes it much harder for someone to do something like this.

What functions are going to take control on their own? It's not a Tesla with the horrible software built in them. What most cars do is the basic comfort and needed technology for a modern car and Toyota doesn't have a ton of bells and whistles.

All these said just buy the car and enjoy it; don't overthink every single scenario that could and might happen.

Thanks but I don't want all the extra technology if AI or smeone from outside is able to take control of my car without my consent.

Not sure why the downvote; I gave you a realistic response based off of how the whole system works and my knowledge of this field. Sorry it doesn't agree with your opinion and fears.

Like I said nobody is going to take control of your car without consent without your consent; this is the least likely situation that will ever happen. To this point sorry to say but it's about being paranoid about something that is less than one percent likely to happen. You're using the internet to access this forum and well based on your definition someone might hack your device and take control any moment.
