Hi,
I had an engine code (P0497 & P145C) referring to my solenoid purge valve come up in diagnostics a little over a month and a half ago. I purchased the solenoid purge valve and had my dad replace it. The first time I filled up on gas after he replaced it I had trouble starting the car and had to keep putting my foot on the gas pedal to get the engine to turnover and stay on. My car was very low (less than 25 miles left) when I filled up so I just chalked it up to that. However when I went to get gas again my car had trouble turning over again. No matter how much gas I already have in my car or put in my car I have trouble getting it to start after filling up. I read the codes again and now have P0496, P0497, and P145C. I went to go look at my purge valve and noticed the bottom nut completely missing on the valve. I am wondering what is going on. Is that bottom nut having any form of impact on my purge valve? Or what could be the cause of this?
thank you!
Well, if you bought an OEM purge valve that shouldn't be the problem. But if you bought some aftermarket Chinese junk, that's probably the problem. But if you did buy an oem, I would assume that the charcoal canister is all clogged up and that's going to need replacing now too
