Hi Scotty ! Enjoy watching and learning from your videos, I have a 2011 Toyota Camry Automatic transmission with 60,00 miles. When turning the steering wheel not always but at times it squeaks and at times the gas peddle also vibrates which makes me worried. Took it to a garage they say the struts are a little bent causing the problem. Should i take it to a dealer for a second opinion. I would have thought the power steering pump. Thanks Alfy
did they show you the bend?
Toyota uses a spring loaded brass pin behind the steering wheel for the horn contact button. It rides continuously on a brass ring attached to the back of the steering wheel. This pin needs to be replaced, or covered with a 22 caliber bullet shell casing. Toyota are famous for this squeaking.
Yeah I too think a bent strut on both your front wheels, is a little suspicious..
Is the squeak from inside or outside the cabin?
If it’s from the inside, I’d have a look at the rubber boot (for wear/cracks) at the bottom of your steering column, in the driver’s footwell.
If it’s from the outside, try spraying AT-205 on each rubber suspension bushing at a time, and check if the noise goes away.
Power steering pumps usually groan when they’re worn, but try checking all the rubber bushings first.
