Starting a 2013 Camry Hybrid

Hi Scotty,

I have a 2013 Camry Hybrid with 90K plus miles on it. It has began to not completely engage when trying to start it with its push button start. The key fab has brand new battery, but when I step on the brake and push the button with the key fab on it, it will light up the whole dash like normal but doesnt go into "ready" mode (the green light) on the dash. It began doing it once in awhile and progressed into all the time. Every mechanic I have talked to says take it to the dealer...well the closest one is in Reno 50 miles away, and I know what their gonna do...(hose me)!

Any suggestions?

And I dont have a spare fob to use...just the one.

I guess something might be wrong with the hybrid system. Find a mechanic who works on these hybrids and have them check the hybrid system. You need a dealer level scan tool to diagnose the hybrid system.

This might help too:

Have you tried connecting a scan tool? Sometimes there may be some codes hidden in there.

Also. Have your 12V battery tested. If it has never been changed all these years, it may solve the problem to change it out, assuming it is doesn’t carry a full charge.

Keep us updated. I’m curious to find out what the problem is.
