Yes.

I admit, I'm brand loyal to Castrol.

That being said, if the store brand has the API/ILSAC starburst it has been tested to meet the same minimum requirements as the other named brands.

The only real question remaining is do the named brands surpass the minimum standard and if so by how much.

It should be ok but I would not risk it. Saving couple of buck for oil change does not worth the risk. 

I usually get the name brand that is on sale. Scotty likes Castrol. I also grew up on Castrol. It’s my go to if there are no sales. 

So far the WalMart SuperTech full synthetic brand is working for me. I'm not so sure that I want to try the SuperTech oil filter though.
