I have a 1999 Chevrolet Prizm with about 206,500 miles and I have trouble moving the fan mode selector on the HVAC control panel on my dash; I got the car from my dad and he said the previous owner before him must have damaged a dash vent somehow, and now that dash vent is blocking the blower motor’s mechanism for the fan mode knob. Any thoughts on what could be the core of the problem?

I'm trying to understand .... what doesn't move? the knob, or the air handling mechanism?

well that plastic crap off and breaks my advice is try to get a thin file and file away plastic stuff that's blocking that and hope it'll work
