Won't crank. Batt & starter both checked out ok. Replaced ignition switch; still nothing. All I hear is single click coming from behind glove box. Would bad neutral safety switch cause shifter to lock up in Park? Also, power windows have stopped working.
Earlier in week I tried to reset computer by running jump wire between batt cables disconnected from batt for 15-20 min. Then I started by jump wire from Pos.+ terminal to starter. Was running AC full when I saw smoke coming from either alt. or compressor on pass side of motor. Haven't run engine since. This car has never run hot.
Have no idea what's going on at this point.

Check all the fuses.
Thanks for reply. After checking fuses found problem in main fuse block on driver side of engine bay. None of the fuses are showing anything but a "1" when I set multimeter to 200 ohms. Fuses in fuse block under dash are all good, indicating readings of resistance. So is definitely some problem with this fuse block, it would seem, at this point.
Above was my lack of auto electronics knowledge. Neg. batt. terminal was disconnected and fuse block fuse block attaching bolt was not tight to car body (not grounded). After rechecking all fuses tested out ok.
