I have a 2014 Subaru Outback 3.6R where after the anti-lock braking system activates for a brief second the brake pedal then becomes soft. It stays soft for awhile, a day or two, and then stiffens back up to normal. I am sure it has something to do with the anti-lock brake module but not sure if there is a certain aspect of the anti-lock braking system that is the problem; such as, an electronic or mechanical aspect of the module.
I have taken the car to a very good mechanic that I have used for years and by the time I have gotten it in for them to look at it the pedal behaves normally and there are no codes in the computer.

You'll need a high-level bidirectional scan tool to test that system.
