2012 Chevy Equinox LT, 2.4L engine. Car was running very rough. No check engine light on although recently, the check engine light has come on and off several times. Brought vehicle in for diagnosis and repair. Oil check monitor said, 40% before next oil change due. Described symptoms. Randy, w/Randy's Automotive in Tulsa told his assistant to check the oil and it was at least a quart low. I learned the oil check monitor doesn't measure your oil level. It just keeps track of how many miles since your last oil change. I was expecting a huge repair bill. Randy said, it just needed an oil change which was $75. The vehicle runs great now. I have a feeling if I had taken it somewhere else it would have been a very different story. In the past, dealers had said, the intake or exhaust cam shaft sensors needed to be replaced and I had that done once or twice. I had also noticed when I checked the oil there was some contaminants in the oil. It looked kind of like saw dust! Randy said, you should get your oil changed within 2 weeks, because it's still kind of dirty because it hadn't been changed soon enough. Going forward, I will check my oil every 2 weeks in both of my vehicles.

How many miles do you drive in 2 weeks?

Probably close to 400 miles every 2 weeks. 15 miles each way at 70 mph five or six times a week plus local errands.

I just realized the detergent and minor oil puts dirt and suspension you change it you need to change it in 2 weeks maybe you can change a little earlier or like 3,000 mi but it's perfectly fine the oil keeps it from hurting things
