Supercharging My Tacoma

Scotty,

I have heard your opinions on turbo systems  and I took your advice and bought my 2023 Toyota Tacoma V6. What is your opinion on installing a supercharger because the camper I am currently looking at is 3000lbs over the towing capacity.

The maximum towing capacity isn't just the strength of the engine. There's also a structural problem. That's based on the frame. Towing anything that's 3,000 pounds overwight is a disaster waiting to happen. You should have gotten a Toyota Tundra.

You'll wind up killing yourself or someone else with a rig like that.

As others have commented, heavy towing is more than just adequate engine power. This article provides greater insight into other requirements.

Yeah I would have got a Tundra but nobody wants to sell the ones with the V8

That's because they're very reliable. There are V8 Tundras for sale, you should have gotten an older one. They don't make them brand new with V8s anymore. They have V6 twin turbos and they're having problems with them.

Forget about it!  You should have bought a Tundra.

If you want a truck with higher towing capacity get the full size ones like Tundra. The Tacoma is a smaller truck that is meant to tow lighter. Towing beyond the max capacity was never recommended because the structure wasn't designed to tow much heavy weight.
