HI Scotty.
I recently purchased a 2022 Honda Ridgeline Sport with 6 cylinder engine and aprrox 62,000 miles on it. There are a lot of opinions when it come to what type of oil to use. After watching many videos on the topic sounds like engines with turbos need to use 0W20. Also, it sounds like what is published in Japan vs North America are worlds apart. My opinion is car makers only want your car to last 6 months past the warranty expiry. My owners manual says to use 0W20 can I switch to 5W20 to get get better protection?

Definitely not.
The first 'w' viscosity number is how the oil flows on cold start. You want that as low as possible to get oil out of the pan and into the dry bearings as quickly as possible.
What does your owner's manual say? (Different engines have different oil requirements. For example, my turbocharged engine calls for 10W30 or 10W40 and that's what I use.)
