Hey Scotty, doesn't it suck that a lot of newer vehicles these days don't have a built in CD player in their stock radios? Recently I saw the newly redesigned Lexus RX and of course a lot of Lexus vehicles do have a CD player but they ended up getting rid of it! Why can't people be more simple and appreciate those awesome discs that anyone could throw in to hear the bold sound coming out from the speakers?! With all the technology added on to these later vehicles, it's kinda disappointing. I don't mind the aux outlets though, they're alright. But to me, CDs are just more simple and a lot more awesome in my opinion. Does anyone wish CD players would make a comeback in all vehicles these days?
I prefer these:

🤣😂🤪
My Catalina probably could play those before someone retrofitted a radio with a CD player and auxiliary port in it, lol. I wish it weren't that way.
Even though I was born in 2002, I could still feel the strong nostalgia within that!🔥🔥
I have 8-track players in several of my vehicles, also have plenty of tapes and even a recorder at home so I can record my own tapes. Alas, unlike vinyl records I don't think there will be a rebirth of the 8-track tape format.
My 21 wrx has one, cant speak on the new gen of that car though.
I get the nostalgia of playing a CD, I know when my dad bought a new yukon in 2006 it could hold up to 6 CD's at once, and it could randomly shuffle between all of them, could go right from Elvis to Van halen. He was proud of that. Being a young kid back then I was like wow, thats pretty cool. Then I'd get some of his CD's or even would buy some and upload them onto my ipod in middle school & highschool.
Since then I got an iphone, and just use spotify now. Its great for music & podcasts, and almost any song ever made is on there. Yeah its a monthly fee but so what, Im okay with it. My wrx has car play so I just plug into that, nice interface. My 2000 camaro has a CD player too, but ive wired in a bluetooth transmitter to the ignition of the car. So when I power the ignition the module starts up, auto connects to my phone, and then I have a preset on the factory radio to set to a certain station. I hid this behind a panel in the so you cant see anything. For context I'm 24.
No I hated cds. They never worked right
CD players won't make a comeback. They take up room within the center stack. Plus, with the advancement of technology and smartphones being able to stream music, there's no need for it anymore.
Not everyone has, or wants, a smartphone. However there are other alternatives if you don't want to use discs or tapes. In my daily driver I use an FM transmitter gadget that Scotty talked about in the past which plugs into the cigarette lighter and can play from a flash drive, sd card, or blue teeth through the car radio.

It doesn't, CDs have been obsolete for a decade.
On the 2011 Hyundai Accent I had, it had a USB port and an AUX, making the CD disk slot useless - Even then it was much more convenient to just put all the music on the USB drive.
On my 2014 Ford Focus it already had a DVD disk slot, USB slots, an SD card slot and Bluetooth with integrated controls - I could just stream music from my phone and hear it played through the speaks at a high bit rate.
On my current cars, (2020 and 2022 KIAs) It's even easier, I just say "Hey Siri, Play some music", it goes into your phone, selects you favorite music app and plays it - while the car steers it self and does about 85% of the driving for me.
Even on my old Toyota (2009 model year), I installed a new big touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay and no CD drive and I really do not like I miss having to deal with CD disks.

CDs are too cumbersome.
Burning / Buying, managing them, carrying them, etc. - it's much easier to just browse music on a touchscreen and have a pretty much infinite music collection at your finger tips.

Probably very few people.
The one thing I miss about CD’s is the physical limit you can practically take with you. With my smartphone, I often get decision paralysis. And just put on traditional radio on scan since I don’t feel like choosing.
Or you can just tell Siri to open your music app and play a personalized mixtape / shuffle your playlist / play pre-made playlists for driving.
The reason Lexus has CD players in all their new vehicles is because they are catering to business people. Business people have a lot of self-help CDs on how to become better in the industry they are working in. Same reason why new Lexus's from 15 years ago all had tape decks (they had CD players too). Business people had self-help tapes for the same above reason.
My 2014 Cadillac ELR came with one, I used it once for kicks when I bought the car. Then I took it out and put the factory cubby in its place. 😆
That's how technology is; when something better and more convenient becomes widespread the older stuff just get outdated and then totally removed. My car has wireless carplay which make it even more convenient than plugging something in; my phone connects once I sit in the car and then Siri and the steering wheel controls for playing music or maps or making calls etc.
With CD it was taking place and doing only one task of playing audio, and it had very limited space; you couldn't add new audio to it or delete stuff which meant every time you wanted new music a new CD. Smartphones have become so widespread that it just totally makes sense to use all it's functions.
It can be harder to get used to it for the older generation as it has been with many other things, but it is what it is and it won't be going back either.
I usually listen radio so I rarely use it.
