Thermostat Failed

Hello,

I have a Kia Carens 2007 CRDi, it's the korean diesel version of the Kia Rondo and it's a wonderful car, has a turbocharged 2.0 Diesel Engine that workds fantastically. I also have an OBD2 Bluetooth Scanner I bought on eBay and a paid app to read codes and live data.

Story:

Some time ago, my car broke a radiator hose, so I had to replace it. Since I didn't have enough money (we're in pandemic and I live in the caribbean), didn't buy coolant and used some water, after which I saw some kind of "salt" in the radiator cap. So my mechanic suggested we should clean the radiator and buy some good antifreeze which we did, but then my car started acting up, coolant temperature usually was 87-89°C (189-192°F), but then it started to go up to 91-96°C (196-205°F) so something was wrong. I've seen some of scotty's videos so I kind of knew the culprit was the thermostat, my mechanic suggeted we just removed it since, according to him it made no difference, so we did and then the car was running too cold 69-79°C (156-175°F). So I found the part I needed, drained the coolant (did this myself), and replace the part in like 10 mins.

Now the engine warms up to 87-89°C as it did before, and I didn't need a mechanic for that (who apparently didn't know what he was doing, since he recommended to just remove it)

Thanks to Scotty.
