I bought my 2021 Camry SE at a certified Toyota dealership. The buying experience was great and I managed to get the deal I wanted. I traded in my 2015 Fusion SE that had 100,000 miles for $12,000. At first, they only wanted to give me $9,000 for it. They said they couldn't pay me any more money because my front bumper was cracked and it would cost them $1,500 to repair. I told them if I didn't get the OTD price I wanted, I'd walk out.
They finally agreed to my OTD price. Instead of lowering the new Camry price, they paid me more for the Fusion. $12,000.
I curiously looked up their website today to see if they have sold my Fusion yet. They were selling my Fusion at $16,488. The catch is they have a "dealer discount" of $2000. So the "upfront price" is $14,488. I drove to their lot to see my good old car. It still had the front bumper crack.
i had a co-worker going to trade in a car, told him that i would give $2500 without looking at it, he traded it for $1500, they washed it and put it on the lot for $5000 🤣
Ok. So, I read a description of my Fusion. They say it has keyless entry while it actually has a physical key that inserts in the ignition.
Keyless entry = It has a remote to unlock the doors.
Pushbutton start = Keyless ignition
Dealers copy/paste the manufacturers VIN information. They don't actually type out the details by hand.
They gave you a good deal on your trade. Likely they will make around $1000 after negotiating with the next buyer. They have to keep the lights on you know.
