I have a 2017 Hyundai that’s burning oil and I want to get rid of it before there’s more problems. I’ve been looking at 2010 f150s with roughly 150,000kms on them. Ones with the 5.4 and 5.0. Can I expect to get another 10 or 15 years out of one?
Clarification: How much driving (in km) do you expect to do in a year?
Depends on how many miles you plan to put on it and whether or not you feel lucky.
I don't see it lasting that long with that many miles already on it. (I know, KM's but I converted to miles and still wouldn't expect another decade out of it).
I also think 5-10 years is a more realistic expectation. There will probably be rust concerns by then aside from mechanical issues.
Make sure that 5.4 was well taken care of and regular oil changes. look at Ford Techmakuloco on youtube, the last couple of videos are on the 5.4 3 valve.
The 5.4L seems to be pretty reliable mines got over 300k miles from 97 and is still going and I know a guy with an 07 with the 5.4 with over 200k miles and still going. But we both do oil changes at 3000 miles and every 5 miles the serpentine belt and radiator hoses get changes.
