Bosch is changing up the brake system in cars from purely mechanical to purely electric. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this system? How do you view this system from a mechanics POV? From a consumers POV?

Well they tried it previously on some Mercedes-Benz and they gave up with the electronic systems back then because I kept breaking down. Corrosion would destroy them from salt and the road in the winter. But of course they are cheaper to make and can be controlled by computers. Easier, and between the planned obsolescence and computer control of everything, the car manufacturers love it
I don't like the idea of electric braking. Many owners (and mechanics) don't like electric parking brakes. It's likely the main reason trailers have electric brakes is because trailers need an external power source. The push towards autonomous vehicles is annoying.
@hixster the power for trailer brakes usually comes from a tongue battery.
