Hey Scotty, own a 2012 Sonata. Used to have all 4 of the same tires (Kelly A/S) but got a flat and had 2 of the Kelly A/S moved to the back and 2 new GT Radial Champiro A/S placed on the front. Mainly do highway driving and when I get to about 60 mph the right front tire starts making a lot of road noise but starts to dampen as I reach my top speed of 65 mph. Have taken off and reinstalled both front tires myself and also made sure each tire is the correct pressure but the problem still persists.
Haven't noticed any change in my excellent fuel economy (about 42-43 mpg on average) but should the noise be something I'm concerned about? Have about 125K miles on my Sonata and its a rare 6-speed manual that I'd like to keep as long as possible (not for the manual transmission, which is actually hot garbage but that's beside the point). Want to make sure this tire noise isn't doing any damage or wearing anything out prematurely.
Well, I'd swap the tires around front to back and see if the noise moves. If it does, you know it's the tires. And if that was the case, I'd take them back. Tell him the tires are crap. Tire stores have to guarantee their products and they often don't make them correctly these days because everything's so cheaply made
