Hi, I have a 2009 Acura csx, one of my tpms sensors went bad so I just replaced it with a regular valve, and my tpms light is on now, does it affect the performance of my traction control/abs ?
Thanks
No, you are fine. They are unrelated.
The TPMS is just another piece of electronic junk put on newer vehicles that seems to break relatively early in the vehicle's life. You'll see as many complaints about TPMS as you will about automatic transmissions. Just get a $4 tire gauge at Walmart and solve the problem.
the tpms battery lasted 12 years. I think that's pretty good.
Do you check your tires every time you get in the car?
Once a week, religiously.
that's very diligent. My TPMS tells me the pressure every time I start up, so I will know right away if something is amiss. And I don't even need to leave the driver's seat to see all four. If a sensor battery dies after 12 years, the car continues to run unaffected. It's a nice luxury to have and the vehicle operation isn't hampered in any way.
Put a tape on the dash above the light so you don't see it.
The traction control and antilock brake system have speed sensors at each wheel and the computer(s) makes adjustments accordingly during low traction events to prevent the car from skidding out of control.
How did you know your TPMS sensor was bad? The TPMS indicator comes on if one of the tires is low or one or more of the senders is malfunctioning. A low battery in the sensor can also cause the indicator to illuminate considering it's age. Your light may have come on because it noticed a sensor is missing. If a new sensor is installed in a wheel, the computer needs to be programmed to accept the sensor to work.
