i have a 2016 chevy silverado 1500 5.3 with 88,000 when i got it from dealership in houston . ( MAKING PAYMENTS ) RIGHT NOW THE MILES IS 116,000. i am well kept with the maintenance on the vehicle. recently i had the spark plugs and wires changed. the mechanic told me there is two bolts that broke off the exhaust manifold. he told me thats common for this type of vehicle. i had done reasearch on this type of vehicle. there is quite a bit like the problem im having now and the v8 goin to v4 AFM and the transmission going to 194 degrees. my goal is to pay it off fast. should i keep it or sale it once its paid off. the total price for the truck was $24,000.  i am paying more than the note to pay it off faster please help your advice is much needed sir. thank you

transmission going to 194 degrees.

that is a completely normal transmission temperature considering your cooling system also runs at that temperature.

I recently changed parts that was inside of the thermostat bypass valve underneath the truck. Superior solutions stl010.

What about the v8 going down to v4 when driving.

If you are going to keep the truck, I would disable the cylinder deactivation technology which GM calls AFM (or Active Fuel Management).  To learn how, see link below:

two bolts that broke off the exhaust manifold.

Comon issue, and not a big deal. Please use the search first before posting.

should i keep it

If you need a full size truck, then yeah I would

What about the v8 going down to v4 when driving. Won’t that be a costly issue in the future

You mean AFM?

It might, but I've seen trucks go hundreds of thousands of miles without issue. Be diligent about maintenance.

My bro figured out how to avoid it. I can't remember what he said. He modulates the accelerator pedal, or downshifts or something.

be aware that disablers come with their own caveats. "hacks" always come with one or more trade offs. I believe the Range device attempts to overrides functions by spamming with ECU. One result of this is that it keeps pumping fuel even during coasting and deceleration which increases fuel consumption.

That’s why it’s best to turn off the AFM or DOD feature via HPTuners - clean solution.

I thought the clean solution was to install non AFM lifters and camshafts and then remove the feature from the ECU

Well, ideally, yes but that would cost many thousands of dollars which not everyone wants to spend. Plus, it’s hard to find a good shop one can trust to do this work.  Where I live I only count 2 that I would trust.  But, at the least, the AFM or DOD should be turned off via software.  That, just about any performance shop can do;  heck, one could even do that themselves if they have the HPTuners software.  I would much rather go that route than use those AFM-Disabler dongles.
