HELLO SCOTTY!!!!!!!

My father and I have been on a quest to restore a 95 Celica hatchback (made in Japan) with the 1.8L 7A-FE and Manual transmission. We had purchased a used engine which ran just fine for a few months until one day it struggled to start and ran sluggish. Eventually, it would just crank and not start at all. We eventually found the cause to be a failing fuel pump.

After replacing the fuel pump, fuel tank, and fuel lines (because we could), we went to drain the oil and out came some coolant and oil. It is important to note that the coolant and oil were not mixed and the car NEVER overheated while it was running. We managed to start it and run with the coolant cap off and noticed some bubbles coming out leading us to believe that we now have a blown head-gasket.

We intended to buy an OEM Toyota head gasket from Toyota, however, because the car is so old, and because it was made in Japan, the part is no longer produced. What we want to know is who makes a comparable quality head gasket for a 7A-FE engine?

Thank you once again for all your help!

Don't guess, use a tool called a head gasket tester that's available at pretty much every chain store, like AutoZone, etc. (3) How to Test a Blown Head Gasket in Your Car - YouTube

Hey MountainManJoe! Thank you for the link, unfortunately, they do not ship to the US. Do you know of any other brands you would recommend for an aftermarket head gasket?

have you tried felpro?

Found one on amazon, thank you!
