Toyota Avalon O2 sensor

I have a 2001 Toyota Avalon with 225000 miles and it still runs great. I have a question about oxygen sensors. I have had to replace an oxygen sensor twice and now the check engine light is on again. It’s a fiddle job and it’s just a couple of years since I last did it. I have always used Denso sensors. I read that any other make will fail. The Denso (234-9021) is about $130. So, do I need to get a Denso again? How big of a deal is this sensor, the car seems to run just as well when the CEL is on? Can I still drive it until I get a new sensor? Thanks

Is it throwing the code for catalyst inefficiency? Might be time for a catalytic converter. Otherwise I would say buy one of the cheap ones and give it a try especially since you said you have put 2 Densos in with the same result. Worst case you have to change it again. Driving it with an o2 sensor code will usually never cause any harm to an engine.
