Toyota Camry 2003 - possible rust issues?

Hi everyone,

I currently own a 2003 Camry with about 300k km on it. We live up in Canada where the winters are harsh, and the heating just stopped working. I have to decide whether to fix it (1000$ job) or get rid of the car.

The main issue is that there is a lot of rust on the part of the car where the strut assembly is attached to the frame of the car (not sure how to call this area). The rust is clearly there when you open the hood (can send pictures if that would help). I've been told by a mechanic that too much rust there can literally lead the car to collapse onto itself with time. Is that true? If so, is there any way to fix this?

Trying to judge whether this car is worth keeping. There have been no major issues otherwise.

When strut tower goes, … so goes the car!

Do NOT temp fate..the strut supports the suspension and if that goes you lose control. Tis folly to temp fate - just trade it in while the car is intact (for the time being) and get a fresh set of wheels.
