Toyota Camry- SE vs. XSE 2024

I am debating between a toyota camry se vs xse. I like the options included in the xse like the leather heated seats, upgraded paint, blind spot, and air vents in back seat. BUT, one issue i am concerned about is that the se has 18 inch tires and alloy wheels, where the xle has 19 inch tires/wheel. I did read a forum that said that people who had 19 tires/wheels were have issues with hitting pot holes or curbs and breaking rim and blowing tires. I know many of these people were in the north where pot holes are everywhere due to climate. Luckily, i live in the south were they are not as big of an issue. I also read that the bridgestone turzana tires that many had in earlier years (2018, 2019) had bubbles in them that was causing an issue in both SE and XSE models (maybe other trims as well). I know that 19 inch tires dont wear as well- and are a bit more expensive to replace (about $20 each)- i am not concerned about that, but rather if rims and tires blowing out are a major concern in decided between the 2 trim levels.

I wouldn’t worry about it.  The 19” wheels are lower profile and will always be more of an issue than the 18” wheels, but that is going to be true for most vehicles.  I myself am in the market and have decided to go with the 19” wheels just because the rest of the vehicle/package offerings were what I wanted.

can you put SE wheels on an XSE car?

To be honest, I don’t know. Also, I was looking at a Lexus ES350 on 19” - granted it’s based on a Camry/Avalon platform.
.
But, that’s an option for the OP to look into to get the best of both worlds.

i doubt they would allow for a swap in tire size- and they would probably charge and arm and a leg to do it- but might be worth asking

if they won't , then do it yourself.

maybe- but that would cost me about 2k to do it- then i would have to sell used tires and wheels

replacing cracked wheels is expensive. Your comfort is worth something too. Could be worth it.

so- you are of the opinion that they will probably crack with the 19 inch?

I don't have a crystal ball. I'm not saying they will or won't. I'm saying it's more likely.
Less tire = less cushioning

1" difference in wheel size on such a modern sedan is just not an issue.

Since you'll likely be sitting in the driver's seat for thousands of miles I'd put my focus on comfort. Don't skimp on comfort & amenities only to regret it later.

it makes a big difference. Hit a curb and it'll pinch right through the sidewall of the tire and now you're looking at buying a new one. Or worse.

Yessir, it makes a difference. Low profile tires don't help a car's ride and they're typically more easily damaged. The XLS is 'the more comfortable car'. I didn't make it clear when I suggested buying based on what's more comfortable.

Performance wise, there is no difference unless you opt for V6. SE also comes with Blind Spot Monitor.

blind spot monitor is a $600 add on for the SE- but comes standard with XSE
