my automatic celica Gt has 187000 miles on it but needs the engine replaced due to knocking I bought it for 600 bucks interior seats are in great shape Apart from the Plastic bits on the gear shift and the paint on the outs side is pretty sundamaged the spoiler also is cracked down the middle might need new suspension in the back from the little bit I drove it is it worth it to restore it? The engine replacement so far on what I’ve been quoted is 2900 maybe less if I look at other options.
why you would put a $3,000 engine in a $600 car is absolutely beyond me.
No way... Sell the thing because it will be worth scrap metal price when you try to resell it already being over 21 years old and having a rebuilt title on it. Save your $2900.
It's not worth it. You will easily be putting $3,500 to get that thing running and looking alright, and that's assuming there aren't any electric, transmission, issues, etc.
In my opinion, sell it now and put that money into a vehicle more worthwhile.
