Hey Scotty, I just watch your video on the Toyota Tundra that was able to get the frame replaced in Wisconsin. I have a 2007 Toyota Tacoma access cab that I bought in March with 98,000 miles on it. The frame appeared to be solid, but after taking it to a garage to get a tire fixed, I noticed some pretty good rust and a spot that a piece rusted off that was covered by undercoating. I live in Maine, which is a northern state so I called aToyota dealership to see if they could do anything for me. They said the warranty was up and I’d have to call corporate which I did and they told me the same. So my question is, if they are doing the replacements In Wisconsin, why not Maine and do you know who I could contact about this in Wisconsin to hopefully show the dealership here so I can ask them. Thanks in advance and have a Merry Christmas!
Joe
Hi Joe,
Are there any shops in Maine that do frame replacements for your truck?
I would call the shop in Wisconsin that does this job and tell them what happened.
I have a 2005 Tacoma double cab that had the frame replaced in 2016. These Toyota frame recalls vary depending on which models, Tacoma, Tundra, etc. My understanding is that the 2005 -2008 recall as a result of a class action suit expires 12 years after the manufacture date of the vehicle, sorry to say. That is what Reuters reported. You probably don't qualify at this point.
But it is worth calling a dealer in WI as pointed out Kesterpaul62 and see what they tell you
There should be a sticky in this forum advising readers to stay away from these Toyota trucks entirely unless the frame had been replaced. Its not just Tundras and Tacomas with this problem either. Sequoias, forerunners, and the Lexus SUV's also have this rust issue. A friend of mine has an older Lexus SUV and the Lexus dealer designated it "unsafe to drive" recently
