hi Scotty! I’m a big fan from FL thank you for all you do!!

Scotty, I'm in the market for a Highlander XLE 2022 and my question is, should I get the 2022 XLE which has the V6 engine. Or should I wait for the 2023 module which will come with an inline V4 turbo… your advise and insight is highlight appropriate!! Thank you!!

The V6 would be preferable if you can still get a 2022 model, especially if you plan to keep it for a long time.

Go with the V6.

Generally speaking, a non-turbo (or non-supercharged (SC)) engine will hold up better over time than a turbo/SC engine. Turbos & SC's increase the pressure of the air going into the engine to make more power, that's how turbo 4 cylinders can make V6 & V8 power, with less than half the engine displacement. This comes with a price, all that extra pressure wears things out faster, even if the engine is designed for it, they just wear faster. Not to mention the complexity of the turbo/SC too, and all the components they add. Note it does depend on the size of the vehicle & your driving habits too. So with a rather large vehicle, id certainly say V6.

This is just general logic. It depends on who's making the engine. Id trust a turbo honda engine over a non-turbo kia all day.
