If I'm looking at a CPO car being sold by an official Honda or Toyota dealer, do I still need to place a condition to get the car checked out by another mechanic? or is it enough to go over the certification results from the dealer? The car in question is a 2017 Toyota corolla with just over 46000 miles. The car is part of the Toyota certified used cars program.
Thanks much!
You don't HAVE to do anything. But it might be in your best interest.
Once you buy the car, they have your money. Then they only need to do enough to keep you quiet. Repairs can drag out for years.
I would make sure the car is completely taken care of while the money is still in your hands. Their attitude will be completely different when they still want your money.
What’s the warranty like?
Limited Comprehensive Warranty: 12 Month/12,000 Mile (whichever comes first) from certified purchase date.
I don't have more details yet.
Thanks!
The price is just over $13,000. Not sure if that's a good price.
Its a decent price, but it depends on the trim. The base models go around 12k-13k while the higher ones up to 15k.
For a CPO Corolla with low miles it isn't that bad.
You can’t fully trust them, so I recommend having an independent, honest mechanic check it out.
I would recommend still having it checked out. Not all dealers do the inspection like they are supposed to. And it never hurts to get a second opinion.
