I have a 2006 Toyota Matrix and I have spent so much money trying to fix a small fuel leak. My car has a check engine light on with the code p0441. I have changed all of these parts and components trying to fix it. My car has had this light on for about 2 years.
gas tank cap twice
Fuel Pump
Fuel Filter
vapor canister solenoid/ vapor canister purge valve
charcoal canister
engine crankcase breather hose
valve cover gasket
mass air flow sensor
PCV valve
PCV valve hose
engine intake manifold gasket
fuel injection pressure regulator
oxygen sensor
engine air filter
I feel scammed and like I've just thrown money away on a old car. My car has 230,000 miles. Ive taken my car to 3 different shops and now they are telling me I have to change the fuel filler neck, but at this point I'm just discouraged and frustrated about this. What do you think I should do next?
I appreciate all of your work and everything you do.
Well that's such a minor thing. A minor vacuum like an evap system. I wouldn't even mess with it. But it's often bad vacuum switching valves on those things that go bad and trip those codes. Any mechanic with a smoke machine and a scandal should be able to figure it out. If you want to find a guy who knows what the heck he's doing. Me though I just leave the stupid thing alone cuz I live in Tennessee and they don't do emissions testing so no one cares if they have those stupid little codes
