Toyota Matrix 2012 Base - Use of Smaller rims and tires

Topic starter

I recently brought a pre-owned Toyota Matrix 2012 Base model, and found that the previous owner has fitted smaller -15" rims and tires in the car. Now I am about to change to winter tires and wanted to know if I should change my rims to OEM size - 16" and fit matching winter tires or can keep the 15" rims and fit matching 15" tires. If I need to change to 16" rims, then I will have to buy a nother set of 16" summer tires next spring. Another issue is that the TPMS sensors were removed and the built in TPMS that comes with the Matrix is always ON. So, should I spend that extra to fit TPMS in the wheels.

What's on the car?

This what is standard or could fit: https://www.wheel-size.com/size/toyota/matrix/2012/

15s are fine, just get 15 inch winter tires.  Put a piece of black tape over the TPM system light and get a tire gauge at Walmart.  Also, because of the smaller wheel and tires, your speedometer will read faster than you're actually going, unless the 15 inch tires have the same outside diameter as the 16 inch tires.
