I was working on my matrix changing out the light bulb for the shifter. I had to remove whole entire console to get to the light bulb. I also needed to fix the panel where it shows "p, r, n, d" - so then i took off the gear shifter not knowing there were wiring connected in it. I broken the over drive wiring in the gear shifter.
My question is - is there anything I am able to do fix this? Sense the over drive button doesn't work will that effect the vehicle in anyway?

On my Matrix, the button is there to keep you from shifting into reverse or park accidentally, not selecting overdrive, though mine is an 09 with the 1.8 engine, so it may be different.
